Kidney stones are the small masses that block the flow of urine. They can be small enough to pass through urination. They produce extremely painful experience in a person. They are occurred for different reasons. They are the result of too much of uric acid in the urine. Kidney stones are very common in men especially in middle-aged men.

The elderly women and men are more likely to develop kidney stones. This is due to the fact that they are the primary gout suffers, and have higher levels of uric acid. The people with secondary gout develop kidney stones due to long-term medication, diuretics, aspirin and their health condition.

Symptoms of kidney stones:

 

In some of the cases there will not be any symptoms of kidney stones. Normally they have a sudden extreme painful cramping in the lower back. Later it also spreads to the side, groin and abdomen. They have nausea or vomiting caused due to severe pain. If there is any infection in the urinary tract they may have fever and chills. The kidney stones differ in sizes. Most of the stones pass with in 48 hours.

Prevention of kidney stones:

Prevention is better than cure. The intake of alcohol should be avoided or completely stopped. The foods that raise uric acid levels such as organ meat, red meat, mushrooms, dried peas beans and other such foods are eliminated. Plenty of water should be taken. One should stay well hydrated all the time. One has to exercise regularly. If an individual is over weight then he should avoid crash diets and loose weight quickly. But loosing weight too fast can cause a raise in uric acid levels. This increases the risk of stones.

Pulverization is nothing but cutting or making small pieces of kidney stones. They large kidney stones are cut into small pieces for the easy pass out.
