Kidney stones are also a very common problem. These are formed by clumps of crystals which can block the urinary system. Depending on the size of a kidney stone, it may be passed out in the urine unnoticed or cause severe pain - some may even require surgery. However , there are various remedies to prevent kidney stones from reoccurring . There are naturopathic remedies based on the diet and exercises.

What Is Naturopathic Treatment?

The kidney stone that occurs due to genetic or metabolic disorder cannot be cured using naturopathic treatment. The stones which occur due to diet-related conditions can be treated using naturopathic treatment. It has been found that Proper nutrition can support healthy kidney function and may discourage stone formation. Natural therapies may help ease the pain and spasm that accompanies stone passage. The following nutritional recommendations may help to prevent stone formation or recurrence:

1. Include foods that have a high ratio of magnesium to calcium such as brown rice, bananas, oats, barley, and soy, and that are high in fiber such as oat bran, psyllium seed husk, and flaxseed meal

2. Proper hydration helps prevent the urine from becoming concentrated with crystals, which can lead to stone formation. So drink a minimum of 50% of body weight in ounces of water daily. This will reduce the risk for urinary tract infections and also the risk for struvite stones.

3. Avoid excessive consumption of sugar, alcohol, antacids, carbonated beverages, caffeine, and refined white flour products such as pasta, white bread, and baked products.

Herbal Medicine

The herbal plants are made into medicines that can actually cure kidney stones . These herbal medicines do not have side effects . Sometimes an herb that is prescribed can cause stomach upset or headache. This reflects the purity of the preparation or the added ingredients such as synthetic binders or fillers . Some of the herbal plants that are used are Bearberry , Cleavers, corn silk and so on. Sometimes homeopathic medicines are also used by the naturopathic physicians to treat the pain and spasm associated with kidney stones. When treating the passage of a kidney stone with homeopathy, it is important to remember that the size of the stone must be small enough to pass without surgical intervention. Other therapies, such as hot packs, hydrotherapy and supplements, are sometimes used with homeopathy.
